The station features two rows of massive pylons faced with dark grey Ufalei and light-coloured Koyelga marble. The lighting is concealed behind a broad cornice. The
track walls are finished with white glazed ceramic tiles and a wide strip of black granite at the bottom. The floor is made of grey and pink granite.
The station was called Kirovskaya from its opening until 1990, and there is a bronze bust of S.Kirov at the end of the platform (sculptor M.Manizer).
During the reconstruction a central hall was built so that the station could become a transfer point to Turgenevskaya on Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line.
During the Second World War the station was used as the headquarters of the Joint Staff and PVO Air Defense.
